A really promising application in public preview phase: Papers.

It manages PDFs of scientific articles with all their metadata like author journal etc. Moreover it let’s you read them with a comfortable fullscreen mode. Now they only have to add a tablet annotation feature and it would be perfect.

PDFpen, hidden feature for tablet users

PDFpen on Mac is a promising replacement of PDF Annotator in Windows. But the developers really should get a tablet and make their software ready for it. At least it is more or less usable with this: You can stop PDFpen from switching back to the arrow tool after each stroke with the scribble tool by double clicking the scribble tool.

Of course you will find out those things just after asking the developer how to do exactly that. So let’s see what they will say.

But one really annoying last thing is to avoid those selection overlays of the newly created stroke. Maybe some other secret clicking trick will do that as well.

Not sure, if those online petitions have any effect. But my email address is in the hands of spammers anyway already. So the worst thing which can happen is that get it again, the best that my signature is the missing drop that makes Apple to finally release a Tablet Mac yahoo_3

Maybe their site has the most spammed forum I have ever seen. Was surprised that so much was talked in the petition section, but only found hundreds of spam posts….

Tablet presentation

Did an experiment to give a presentation at a seminar using a Wacom tablet today.

Worked reasonable well. I like those colorful transparency talks so much that I had to try it using the computerised version. Finally one can use unlimited many pictures and arrows on slides again without feeling to hesitate to spend another half an hour to draw the simplest graphic. Who needs print-quality slides anyway… Everything was done in Microsoft Journal, the basic note taking application of Windows XP Tablet Edition. Worked flawlessly for drawing the slides and for presenting them.
