FlickrFlow, a Flash slideshow for Flickr pictures, like you know them from your iTunes. See yourself:

Basically it uses the beta of Flex 3 and the DisplayShelf component, and some glue to get Flickr pictures into it. The source code is here: http://flickr.1stein.org/flickrflow/srcview.

Update: I moved the flickr request URL and the cache script URL into the HTML page. So you can easily create your own queries via e.g. the Flickr API explorer, and then let FlickrFlow display them:

Note for people who want to load Flickr’s images and fail because of the crossdomain.xml problem: JPEGs can be loaded without this. But, you may not access the image bits afterwards. So creating reflections like in FlickrFlow above is out of question. For that you need either a crossdomain.xml on the server (Flickr does not have it) or you need a proxy php script. I do the latter, i.e. the reflection you see are not created from the full detail jpegs that are loaded from Flickr, but it’s done with the preview (30% jpeg quality) loaded from my server. Look in the FlowImage.mxml source to see how to load the detailed Flickr jpeg.

Keynote-Export

Bezüglich der fehlenden Navigationselemente in Keyword-Exports nehme ich alles zurück und behaupte das Gegenteil Leider nicht ganz. Es gibt (zumindest in der 08er-Version) “Hyperlinks”, mit denen man ein Navigationsmenü selbstbauen kann. Dies zeigt dieses Tutorial von Apple. Ich vermute, ich bin nicht der einzige, der diese Funktion nicht gefunden hat.

Aber so einfach wie dort geschildert, ist die Sache doch nicht. Im Keynote-Präsentationsmodus läuft alles wie erwartet. In einer exportierten Flash-Datei funktionieren die Hyperlinks nicht wirklich, manchmal bewirkt ein Klick etwas, manchmal nicht. Sehr komisch. Im Quicktime-Export kann man klicken, jedoch springt der Quicktime-Player auch bei “letzte Folie” oder “zurück” wieder auf die erste Folie, bzw. macht dort gleich mit dem Folienübergang zu Folie 2 weiter. Der “nächste Folie” Hyperlink bewirkt nur etwas, wenn nicht gerade ein Video auf der Folie läuft. Alles noch nicht das wahre

iWork 08

Die Demoversion von iWork ‘08 ist installiert. Keynote ist noch besser als es bisher schon war. Auch Numbers macht einen guten Eindruck. Nur eines ist unschön: Wie lade ich OpenOffice-Dokumente? Ich weiß, ich kann sie in Neo/OpenOffice im Word-Format speichern und dann in Pages öffnen. Aber das ist umständlich. Mehr noch macht es es insbesondere schwierig, iWork unbedarfteren Anwendern einfach als Ersatz für das schwerfällige NeoOffice zu installieren.

Ein alter Kritikpunkt ist leider auch nicht ausgeräumt: Der Export aus Keynote als Quicktime oder Flash erzeugt keine vernünftige Navigation, d.h. man kann nur schwer zwischen Folien hin- und herspringen. Immerhin gibt es Keynote nun als Demoversion zum Download, die angeblich nach 30 Tage Testen noch das reine Anzeigen von Dokumenten zulässt. Zumindest für Mac-Benutzer wäre damit das Exportproblem gelöst. Aber plattformunabhängig ist was anderes.
